The Picture House, Phase 1: Level 2 Fit-Out for Ecosurety
Home // Case Studies //
Fulkers provided full project and cost management services for Phase 1 of The Picture House redevelopment in Bristol: the CAT B office fit-out of Ecosurety’s new 7,000 ft² headquarters on Level 2. Delivered in just 14 weeks, the project achieved SKA Gold certification, demonstrating the highest standards of sustainability across material selection, waste, energy use, and occupant wellbeing.
The space was designed to reflect Ecosurety’s B Corp values and commitment to environmental and social responsibility. Sustainability was central to every design and delivery decision. A major success was the reuse of 99% of Ecosurety’s existing office furniture, which was repurposed, reupholstered, and refreshed to integrate into the new environment. Where new furniture was required, all products were carefully selected to ensure low or zero VOC emissions, supporting indoor air quality and contributing to the project’s SKA Gold rating.
The design is centred around three immersive, nature-inspired “biomes”: Rainforest, Marine, and Savanna – each offering a distinct working environment that supports different modes of activity. The Rainforest zone encourages collaboration with lush planting and informal seating; the Marine zone introduces calming textures and recycled materials, including textiles made from reclaimed fishing nets; and the Savanna zone offers a quieter, focus-oriented environment with warm, earthy finishes and natural cork acoustic panels.
The office integrates a smart workplace app, enabling control over lighting, heating and meeting room bookings, helping to enhance comfort and support energy-efficient operation.
Phase 1 of The Picture House refurbishment has not only delivered a distinctive, high-performance workspace for Ecosurety but also embodies the company’s mission to accelerate positive environmental change. The completed space sets a benchmark for future phases of the development, offering a living example of circular, sustainable office design delivered at pace and to the highest standards.
