Fulkers have maintained a long standing working relationship with the University of Brighton for many years, having supported on a diverse portfolio of projects in a multi-disciplinary capacity.
Brighton University’s “Big Build” Masterplan
Fulkers have successfully contributed to the delivery of Brighton University’s “Big Build” Masterplan from 2017 to 2024. The redeveloped campus in the suburb of Moulsecoomb transformed what was a former car park into a vibrant new centre for living and learning. Projects included:
– Advanced Engineering Centre, £14m
– Parking Facility, £11m
– uLiving, Mithras Halls of Residence, £125m
– Elm House, Brighton Business School, £32m
– Pedestrian Bridge, £3.8m
– Fired Engine Test Cell PaREGEn project, £280k
– Moulsecoomb Campus Refurbishment, £1.1m
Brighton Estates Strategy 2025
Fulkers are currently appointed to manage the delivery of the University’s “Brighton Estates Strategy 2025” focusing on the Falmer Campus which is set in the South Downs, 4 miles away from Brighton city centre. With the overall goal being for the University to better integrate with its surroundings, the project includes a number of refurbishments and relocations including the following:
– Mithras House Refurbishment – Co-location of the School of Humanities and Social Science, £7.9m
– Sport and Health Hub, £4.2m
– Sports Science Building, £4.2m
– Watson House refurbishment – School of Health, £4.35m
– Westlain and Checkland Staff Spaces, £500k
– School of Sports Science and Health Relocation, £250k
To support the new buildings and areas being created as part of the Brighton Estates Strategy 2025, Fulkers have been retained to scope, procure and manage the largest relocation operation in its history. Combining multiple sites and various specialist equipment, over 200 staff and via a phased programme to seamlessly transition an entire campus from Eastbourne to the new spaces in Falmer.
